Consultation has now concluded for Brennan Park upgrade, Bongaree.
Council is upgrading Brennan Park, Bongaree on Bribie Island. Alongside replacing unserviceable equipment, the project looks to increase accessibility and improve landscaping to cater to mature trees that provide shade and contribute to the park’s character.
The upgrades include:
- replacement of the existing flying fox track ride with a new senior play element
- installation of new seating and playground walls
- replacement of the old playground soft fall
- new picnic facilities
- pathway upgrades for improved convenience and disability access compliance
- new planting and wider garden beds to allow for root zones of mature trees
Community input
Council sought feedback in the planning phase to understand the community's preference for a new play unit to replace the flying fox that had reached the end of its serviceable life. Through an online poll that ran between 30 April and 21 May 2021, locals told us that the Mobilus was the preferred equipment from the options provided. The Mobilus is a seesaw swing that can move in multiple directions and is suitable to young teens. Find an image of the Mobilus below.
As a result of the consultation, Council implemented this equipment into the design and upgrade plans.
