THE MILL at Moreton Bay Priority Development Area - Proposed Development Scheme

Consultation on the proposed Development Scheme has now concluded. Please see the description below for further information.

On 2 September 2016, the Queensland Government approved the declaration of THE MILL at Moreton Bay Priority Development Area (PDA). THE MILL at Moreton Bay is the region’s first PDA, bringing with it untapped potential for jobs growth, economic prosperity and revitalisation of the Moreton Bay Region. The 460 hectare area spanning the suburbs of Petrie, Lawnton and Kallangur is expected to generate up to 6,000 local jobs, 10,000 places for university students in the first 10 years and $950 million in economic benefit for the Queensland economy.

Since the PDA’s declaration, Council has worked closely with the State Government to prepare a Development Scheme for THE MILL at Moreton Bay PDA. The proposed Development Scheme will guide future development within the area including facilitating the development of University of Sunshine Coast (USC) Moreton Bay campus.

Consultation on the proposed Development Scheme has now concluded. Council will now review and consider all submissions received. Council will then prepare a submissions report identifying the issues and how they have been addressed and what changes have been recommended to the proposed Development Scheme. After any changes have been made to the proposed Development Scheme, the document will be submitted to the State Government along with the submissions report for final review and approval. These documents will be made available on Moreton Bay Regional Council and Economic Development Queensland websites over the coming months.

The proposed Development Scheme and associated documents can still be viewed online in the Proposed Development Scheme section of this page.
