UPDATE: At the City of Moreton Bay General Meeting, 8 October 2025, the Proposed Amendment Local Law and Amendment Subordinate Local Law were made.
The Council Report contained the following information about public consultation:
“Public consultation was undertaken from 3 March 2025 to 31 March 2025. Eleven people provided submissions on the Amendment Local Law and six people provided submissions on the Amendment Subordinate Local Law. Many of the submissions related to matters not relevant to the proposed amendments. The relevant submissions are summarised in “Appendix S” of the Supporting Information.”
Commencement is 17 October 2025.
What would the proposed Amendment Local Law do?
Council’s new suite of Local Laws commenced in December 2023. The proposed Amendment Local Law (Effective Control of Dogs and Other Matters) 2025 amends 8 of the Local Laws. This is to align the local laws to State legislation and address both operational and drafting issues (e.g. typos) with the original wording of the laws.
What would the proposed Amendment Subordinate Local Law do?
Council’s new suite of Local Laws commenced in December 2023. The proposed Amendment Subordinate Local Law (Minimum Standards for Keeping Dogs and Other Matters) 2025 changes 4 Subordinate Local Laws. This is to align the subordinate local laws to State legislation and address both operational and drafting issues (e.g. typos) with the original wording of the laws.
The submission period for the proposed Local Laws closed at 5pm on 31 March 2025.
