Kevin's Way naming now confirmed

Council is pleased to confirm the pathway within Cowrie Parade Park, adjacent to Cowrie Parade Park , Albany Creek will now be known as Kevin's Way.

The naming comes after Council received a request supported by a petition with 50 signatures and 9 individual letters of recommendation to name the pathway in Mr Kevin Couch’s honour. Council then invited community comment between 20 June and 11 July 2023.

Albany Creek resident Mr Couch is a well-known, regular user of the pathway who plays an active role in bringing his community together and was a winner of Moreton Bay Regional Council's Australia Day Spirit Award last year.

Naming Council’s assets

Council recognises the significant social value to the community of naming places, structures and assets under its direct control.

We see naming as important because it helps to create amazing places by:

  • identifying landmarks within the community
  • supporting wayfinding for locals, visitors and emergency services agencies
  • contributing to community belonging and place identity
  • reflecting and preserving the cultural and heritage values of the region.

Council undertakes naming in accordance with our Policy for Council-owned or administered public places, structures and other assets (excluding roads).
