To inform the upgrade of the Skate Park on Aurora Boulevard, North Lakes, we invited community input.

In an audit of the North Lakes Skate Park, we found it was deteriorating, and repairs and improvements were needed.

In late 2020, we asked users of the park for input before we started the design process.

Then in August 2021, we asked for feedback on concept plans for the new park. During the consultation period, 1,140 people visited the project website, 91 submissions were made, and 48 quick poll responses were received.

You told us you wanted:

  • adjustments to concept design to improve how the skate park functions
  • a greater range of difficulty levels to encourage use from beginners through to experts
  • changes to infrastructure around the skate park.

As a result of your feedback, we:

  • included a flat bank hip, Hubba and an extended lower curved spine
  • increased some of the quarter pipe heights
  • provided longer ledges for grinding opportunities
  • adjusted the location of park infrastructure including bins, drinking fountain and seating
  • included CCTV.

The design for this skate park has now been finalised and construction is expected to be completed in mid-2025, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances.
