The Moreton Bay Region is growing and lots of works are underway to ensure the necessary planning and infrastructure is in place to support this growth. Some of this work is being led by Moreton Bay Regional Council, while other activities are being led by the State Government.

Projects led by State Government agencies

  • South East Queensland Regional Plan

    Overview: The Queensland Government is undertaking a targeted review of the South East Queensland Regional Plan (Shaping SEQ) to respond to current housing pressures in the context of the significant growth and events South East Queensland has experienced since 2017.

    Timeline: Consultation on the draft Shaping SEQ 2023 is open until 20 September 2023.

  • Bruce Highway Western Alternative

    Also known as Moreton Motorway

    Overview: TMR is planning a new transport corridor to connect north Brisbane and Beerburrum. Stage 1 (Moodlu to Moorina) and Stage 2 (Moorina to Narangba) have been gazetted.

    Timeline: Early consultation now open on Stage 3 (Narangba to Bald Hills) and Stage 4 (Beerburrum to Moodlu) via the TMR website.

  • Caboolture West Interim Structure Plan (CWISP)

    Overview: Over the next 40 years, Caboolture West will become a regional city accommodating around 30,000 homes and 17,000 jobs. CWISP is an early release of some of the overall land use and infrastructure planning that will ensure Caboolture West develops as a well-planned and serviced community.

    Timeline: Public consultation on the draft CWISP has now closed.
