Consultation has concluded

Moreton Bay Regional Council is currently progressing the design for upgrades to the following four sections of road in Dakabin:

  1. Alma Road and Marsden Road intersection: This upgrade involves the installation of traffic signals at the intersection it improve safety and capacity. The project is proposed to be delivered between September and December 2022, and completed prior to school return in 2023, subject to approvals and funding. Update 16/12/2021 - Based on more detailed investigations it has been determined that the tree at the south west corner of the intersection is in poor health and will need to be removed to minimise risk to residents.

  2. Alma Road bend: The bend will be upgraded to a roundabout to provide connection to the existing subdivision and provide a western ‘stub’ for a future connection north. This project is proposed to delivered in April - August 2024 in conjunction with the Alma Road rail line underpass upgrade, subject to approvals and funding.
  3. Alma Road rail line underpass: This upgrade involves providing two traffic lanes under the rail bridge, increased clearance and separated turn lanes. Improvements will also be made to Narangba and Thompson Roads as part of this project. This project is proposed to delivered in April - August 2024 in conjunction with the Alma Road bend upgrade, subject to approvals and funding.
  4. Thompson Road between Dakabin Train Station and Ann Street: This upgrade will include improvements to and widening of the road pavement, a new concrete pathway, more space for cyclists, and drainage improvements where required.
