Master Plan

6 May 2022

Council has started planning to create a long term vision, or Master Plan, for Centenary Lakes. It may take around 30 years to fully deliver the plan - which is typical of master plans.

Our community’s needs have changed since the park was built in the 1970s, and recent flood damage has highlighted the need to make the park facilities more resilient.

The revamp will include:

  • New or improved active transport links, like footpaths and bikeways
  • Improved car parking and road safety, including new pedestrian crossings
  • Making the whole park more accessible for people of all abilities
  • New or improved playgrounds, open spaces and bookable spaces
  • Upgrades to sport and recreation facilities
  • Improvements to buildings and facilities so they can better withstand flood inundation.

Some sports need room to expand, while other facilities are rarely used. Council is consulting sports clubs to identify their current and projected future demand and membership rates. Some sports may need to relocate within the parklands while others may need to move to other flood resilient facilities with more space to accommodate future growth.
