Our Moreton update June 2022

17 June 2022

It’s been a busy first half of the year with so many of you getting involved and expressing your views either in person or online. We’ve heard from thousands of residents while engaging on the draft of our Corporate Plan and to inform the development of our Environment and Sustainability, Growth and Transport strategies.

Our teams have really valued the conversations and comments coming through as they develop these important regional strategies. So, a huge thank you to all of you who have generously given your time to make more of your Moreton Bay.

Now we have some exciting news on how your input is contributing to Moreton Bay’s future.

Corporate Plan 2022-2027
Overwhelmingly you told us that you want to continue to celebrate our vibrant communities, protect and enhance our natural spaces, and support sustainable lifestyles. We heard your feedback and our teams have been working across the organisation to ensure careful integration of your input into our pillars. Now we are proud to present our shared vision for the future of the Moreton Bay region - ‘Our Moreton Bay. Amazing places. Natural spaces,’ together with Council’s Corporate Plan 2022-2027.

This plan is the roadmap for Council’s actions to improve the daily lives and futures of Moreton Bay residents. Remember that you will find more detail in each of our key strategies on ‘how’ we will deliver, when they are released.

We encourage you to take a look at the Corporate Plan, which is available here.

Our Moreton strategies in development

This year we kicked off consultation on the Environment and Sustainability (ESS), Growth Management (GMS), Integrated Transport (ITS) strategies. Following the Our Moreton Summit and a region wide survey where we collected valuable ideas and insights from our communities, the strategy teams are now drafting these documents. A report summarising everything you told us during the first phase of consultation for these strategies is now available.

You can read the ESS, GMS and ITS Engagement Summary Report here.

As you can imagine, it’s a complex task to pull together these strategies and to ensure they integrate across the organisation to achieve the best outcomes for our communities. This report now joins the Engagement Summary Report on the Community Wellbeing Strategy from 2021.

What’s next for Our Moreton

Later in the year you will be able to reflect and respond to the draft strategies for:

  • Community Wellbeing
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Growth Management
  • Integrated Transport and
  • Organisational Excellence

As we have done for the Corporate Plan, we will give you the opportunity to have input into the final strategies.
