Understanding future needs to inform improvements to Woodlands Park

We know from Moreton Says surveys that our communities value parks and green space. Investing in public parks is a long-term strategy for City of Moreton Bay’s sustainable future. This investment will support a thriving city where people want to live, work and play. Great parks provide our communities with their unique identity and sense of pride. Living close to well-designed and managed parks and green spaces can improve lifestyle, health, place character and biodiversity.

Your input will help the project team to plan future improvements for Woodlands Park that meet the needs and aspirations of the community. It will also help us to prioritise work if we need to deliver improvements in stages over time to match available funding.

Community feedback

To better understand future needs and inform improvements to Woodlands Park, we sought input from park users and nearby residents. This input was shared through an online survey and email between 1 and 29 September 2025.

Thank you to those who took the time to provide comments on improvements. Your insights are essential to planning the future of this space together. You can read the engagement summary report of what we heard.

What's happening now?

You told us shade is a top priority for park users. We are pleased to share that a shade sail will be installed over the existing swing set later this year. This is a direct result of your feedback to Council.

We are not installing shade sails over the play tower right now because this ageing equipment is likely to be replaced in the near future. The playground will be considered for an upgrade as part of City of Moreton Bay’s playground renewal program. Your feedback will be part of the renewal process. We will update the community when a timeframe has been confirmed.

You also told us that more picnic and BBQ facilities would benefit park users. We are investigating the addition of a BBQ and shelter through the Councillor’s Local Community Infrastructure program in the coming years, subject to funding availability.

Your feedback on how to improve Woodlands Park has been taken onboard. We will work towards rolling out more improvements as funding becomes available. Further updates will be provided ahead of any construction work.

If you have questions about proposed improvements, please email council@moretonbay.qld.gov.au or call (07) 3205 0555 to speak to the Parks and Recreation Planning team.
