A vision for Arana Hills

City of Moreton Bay is working on a precinct planning project for parts of Arana Hills and Everton Hills (referred to as the Arana Hills Precinct Planning Project) to guide future growth and development, while recognising and enhancing local identity.

Arana Hills is a well-located suburb with existing local shopping and business hubs, lush recreation parks and access to Kedron Brook. The investigation area in Arana Hills has access to both Grovely and Oxford Park train stations.

The city is growing, by increasing housing supply and diversity in built-up areas like Arana Hills, we can meet the population and housing objectives outlined by the Queensland Government while preserving 75% of the city as rural and natural space. This approach is one of our strategies to avoid an over reliance on future greenfield expansions to accommodate our projected growth and reduce the impacts this would have on our natural, scenic, and productive landscapes.

December 2025 update

Between 19 May and 16 June 2025, we invited the community to tell us what makes Arana Hills special via a pin map and vision wall. We also held a pop-up at the Hills Carnivale to hear from community members wishing to share their views in person. Your input has been invaluable, and a summary of what we heard can be found in Engagement Summary Report No.1.

We received 137 pins on our online map and 52 comments on the vision wall. Thank you to everyone who got involved and took the time to share with us your views and ideas about your neighbourhood.

This was the first phase of community engagement, feedback gathered was vital in shaping our understanding of the area and what makes it special and unique. What we heard will help shape the future vision for the Arana Hills Precinct Planning area and will also serve as a guiding compass for the development of a draft Future Directions Report, helping focus efforts on locally specific ways to:

  • encourage greater housing choices for families, workers, and downsizers
  • improve movement and connectivity to key destinations across the area
  • create vibrant, safe public spaces where people can meet, interact, and feel welcome
  • celebrate and strengthen local identity through thoughtful design and planning.

What's next?

Feedback gathered during the recent consultation will help shape the vision and future directions for the Arana Hills Precinct Planning area and will be included in a draft Future Directions Report that will guide future development.

Once the draft Future Directions Report has been prepared, you'll have another opportunity to provide feedback. To receive project updates, click the +Follow button at the top of this project page.
