The Concept Plan has been developed to guide the development of Bribie's first District Recreation Park that caters to a range of users now and in the future. The plan has been designed to minimise the impact on significant vegetation and existing stakeholders, and with a focus on integrating new park elements into the existing surrounds.
The plan will be delivered in stages. The red dotted outline on the plan below shows what will be delivered in Stage 1.
The dog off-leash area (DOLA) will be relocated from its existing location to behind the Solander Lake Bowls Club. This relocation is necessary to allow the introduction of infrastructure and recreational facilities needed to meet the standards of a District Recreation Park.
The new site will comply with Council's DOLA Guidelines and incorporate improved fencing, better footpath connectivity and new seating and shade structures.
New pickleball courts will be developed to cater for this increasingly popular sport. The courts will be the first Council- owned pickleball courts in Moreton Bay.
Pickleball is a sport for all ages and is suitable for a range of fitness levels and abilities. The pickleball courts will complement the existing tennis courts, and cater for the growing membership of the Bribie Island Pickleball Club.
The playground, currently located in the south of the park, will be relocated to the main part of the park in the north.
The new playground will be developed with its own unique theme, character and style, that links to the surrounding natural environment.
Picnic shelters, seating, softscape and shade tree planting will enhance existing park amenities. These enhancements will integrate with the significant existing vegetation, natural environment and coastal location of the park.
A basketball hoop and key and fitness equipment catering to a range of ages and abilities will also be delivered.
