Past Consultation

Moreton Says is a major engagement program Council delivers to bring the views of our communities into our planning and decision-making. It has been running since 2021 and involves a series of region-wide surveys to understand better the things that matter most to our communities.

Moreton Says told us:

  • spaces for relaxing and being in nature, spaces for daily exercise, picnic and BBQ facilities, tables and seating, pathways and playgrounds (all ages and abilities) are the top things the Dayboro and surrounding community would like to see in parks and outdoor spaces
  • 55% of respondents in Dayboro and surrounds are satisfied or very satisfied with the Council's work in maintaining sports, recreation, and community venues such as playing fields, public swimming pools, and community halls.

We’re working to improve park accessibility and public amenities and to improve community safety in our public spaces.

Phase one engagement

In late 2021, the Dayboro community was asked to share their ideas and aspirations for the park's future design. The collaborative process involved working with the local community and traders of Dayboro to uncover what makes the town unique and beloved by its residents and workers. The aim was to capture their ideas and aspirations for the park's future design. A total of 180 surveys were received during this time, and 14 people participated in a storytelling workshop. Since then, Council has been working to acquire the necessary land and develop a concept design for the park.

In late 2023 and the beginning of 2024, Council met with community organisations that are regular users of Roderick A. Cruice Park. The purpose of these meetings was to gain a deeper understanding of how the proposed upgrades to the park would impact these organisations.

Phase two engagement

Between 15 April and 20 May 2024, we invited community feedback on the overall draft Concept Plan and what elements Council should prioritise in the park. Community members could provide feedback online via an interactive mapping tool or survey, as well as via email. Community members were also given face-to-face opportunities to have their say at a pop-up at the Dayboro Markets and stakeholder meetings prior to and during consultation. You can view the responses in the interactive mapping tool and the questions we asked in the survey below. Read the Community Engagement Summary report.
